Walking in wisdom
a weekly devotional
in the book of proverbs
This page is created to give you an opportunity to study the book of Proverbs and to bring you into a healthy habit of reading the book of proverbs through out the month.
"In the house of the righteous there is much treasure, but in the revenue of the wicked is trouble."
Tuesday nights we are studying the Proverbs and we are also identifying the righteous, who he is and his position in according to the wicked. One thing I notice here is a difference of value. The righteous have treasure and the wicked have revenue. Treasure in the Hebrew includes produce, possessions and valuables. Revenue on the other hand is just money, or the thing we gain because of work. It's very interesting how we value money, and yet have nothing to show for gaining it. That's what I think happens to the wicked, they gain all kinds of revenue, but then have nothing but trouble to show for it. I remember a time when I was not under the blessings and supervision of Gods hand and all my work profited me nothing, nothing but trouble. I even had a hard time paying my bills, and had nothing to show, nothing of value anyways. Wealth or treasure I believe is something given from God, possessing things is something God gives us wisdom to gain, it goes beyond money, it's something we acquire when we use money with wisdom. I don't know if you know this or not, but money isn't to be spent... money is a tool for investment. Which means that if you only look at what you have need of today, and don't invest for tomorrow, all your going to get is trouble. We need to see beyond and consider what is up a head and sow seed for that future need. We are going to be talking more about this in future studies at Mission of Grace, if your interested, consider coming, your not going to change your circumstances until you change your way of thinking. Blessings my friends!
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your way acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path." Proverbs 3:5-6
This is my life verse, which is the first verse I learned and had to believe in. In this new year can you trust in the Lord with all your heart? Can you believe for the impossible? If God brought you to it, He will bring you through it! Just know, this is the beginning of a new relationship, a deeper relationship that's of a spiritual design. God has to work this out, all you can do is be obedient and trust Him.
"A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, but the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness."
It takes time and effort to be able to learn how to control your tongue, but with the Holy Spirits help, when He gives you Self-Control, you can control your words, you can control your emotions. Your spirit will produce the fruit of Righteousness which brings self control, and with temperance and patience, you will be able to stop fires before they start, you will not burn your bridges anymore but you will build the kind of relationships needful for your life. Relationships need a wholesome tongue.
Blessings to those who control their lips!
